Montreal Jeweler FAQ | Bijouterie Angelica
Frequently Asked Questions
At Angelica Jewellers, every piece of jewellery represents more than precious metal and gemstones—it represents a story, a milestone, and often something that will be passed from one generation to the next. With decades of experience in the jewellery industry, from wholesale and manufacturing to custom design and fine retail jewellery, our goal is to make every purchase transparent, personal, and enjoyable.
Where is Angelica Jewellers located?
Angelica Jewellers is based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. We welcome clients locally while also serving customers throughout Canada and internationally.

What makes Angelica Jewellers different?
Our approach combines traditional jewellery craftsmanship with modern technology and personalized service.
With a background spanning generations in the jewellery industry, we understand jewellery from the inside out—from diamonds and precious metals to design, manufacturing, stone setting, polishing, and finishing.
Rather than simply selling jewellery, we focus on helping our clients achieve the best possible combination of design, quality, craftsmanship, and value.
Our custom work has ranged from timeless engagement rings and everyday fine jewellery to highly elaborate one-of-a-kind creations for private clients, professional athletes, entertainers, and collectors.
Do you specialize in custom jewellery?
Yes. Custom jewellery is one of our specialties.
We can create virtually any piece you can imagine, including engagement rings, wedding bands, pendants, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, diamond jewellery, statement pieces, commemorative jewellery, and completely original designs.
You may come to us with a photograph, drawing, inspiration piece, concept, gemstone, or simply an idea. We help transform that idea into a finished piece.
How does the custom jewellery process work?
Our custom process is designed so you can visualize and approve your jewellery before production begins.
The process generally includes consultation and concept development, followed by design and 3D rendering. You can review the proportions, stone placement, dimensions, metal, and overall appearance of the piece from multiple angles.
Revisions can be made before the design is finalized.
Once the design and price are approved, the piece proceeds to manufacturing, stone setting, polishing, quality control, and final inspection.
For most custom projects, a $500 design deposit begins the design and rendering process. Once the final design and production price are approved, a 30% production deposit is normally required, with the remaining balance due upon completion or delivery.
Can I modify one of the designs shown on your website?
Absolutely.
Many of our pieces can be personalized. Depending on the design, you may be able to change the metal, diamond size, gemstone, diamond quality, dimensions, setting style, engraving, or other design elements.
Contact us with the product you are interested in and the changes you would like to make.
What metals do you offer?
Depending on the design, our jewellery can be produced in 14K gold, 18K gold, or platinum.
Gold pieces can generally be made in white gold, yellow gold, or rose gold.
Certain designs may perform better in a particular metal because of their structure, stone setting, or intended use. We are happy to recommend the most appropriate option.
Do you sell natural and lab-grown diamonds?
Yes.
Angelica Jewellers works with both natural diamonds and lab-grown diamonds, allowing our clients to select the option that best matches their priorities and budget.
We do not believe there is one answer that is right for every customer. Our role is to clearly explain the differences so you can make an informed decision.
What is the difference between a natural diamond and a lab-grown diamond?
Natural diamonds were formed within the earth over an extraordinary period of time, while lab-grown diamonds are created using advanced technology that reproduces the conditions under which diamonds form.
Both are diamonds and share essentially the same chemical and optical characteristics.
The most significant differences are their origin, rarity, pricing, and secondary-market dynamics.
We can show you both options during your consultation and help you compare them side by side.
Are your diamonds certified?
Many of our larger diamonds are accompanied by grading reports from internationally recognized laboratories such as GIA or IGI, depending on the diamond.
A grading report may provide information including carat weight, colour, clarity, measurements, proportions, polish, symmetry, and other characteristics.
Certification availability will be indicated where applicable or can be confirmed before purchase.
Can you help me choose an engagement ring?
Yes. Engagement rings are a major part of what we do.
We can guide you through the entire process, including diamond shape, carat weight, colour, clarity, cut, proportions, setting style, precious metal, ring dimensions, and budget.
You do not need to be a diamond expert before visiting us. We will explain the important characteristics in understandable terms and help you determine where your budget provides the greatest visual and qualitative value.
Can you source a specific diamond?
Yes.
If you are looking for a particular diamond—for example, a specific carat weight, shape, colour, clarity, ratio, certification, or budget—we can search for suitable options.
We work with an extensive network within the diamond industry and can often source stones specifically for an individual project.
What diamond shapes do you offer?
We work with virtually all major diamond shapes, including round brilliant, oval, emerald cut, radiant, cushion, pear, marquise, princess, Asscher, heart, baguette, trillion, and specialty-cut diamonds.
For fancy shapes, we pay particular attention to proportions, length-to-width ratio, symmetry, light performance, and overall visual appearance, not simply what appears on a grading report.
Can I choose the exact diamond for my ring?
Yes, particularly for engagement rings and custom projects.
When appropriate, we can provide you with specific diamond options based on your desired specifications and budget so that you can make an informed selection.
Do you work with coloured gemstones?
Yes.
We work with precious and semi-precious gemstones including sapphires, rubies, emeralds, tourmalines, topaz, aquamarine, and many other stones.
We can also design a custom piece around a gemstone you already own.
Can you redesign jewellery I already own?
Yes.
Older jewellery can often be transformed into something completely new while preserving its sentimental significance.
Depending on the condition and design, we may be able to reuse your diamonds, gemstones, or precious metal and incorporate them into a new piece.
The jewellery must first be inspected to determine what can safely be reused.
Can you use my existing diamond in a new engagement ring?
In many cases, yes.
We can remove the existing diamond, inspect it, take measurements, and design a new setting specifically around it.
This is particularly popular when redesigning inherited jewellery or upgrading an engagement ring.
Do you offer engraving?
Yes.
Selected pieces can be personalized with engraving, including names, initials, dates, meaningful words, or other inscriptions where space and design permit.
Custom engraving can make an already personal piece even more meaningful.
Can I order jewellery online?
Yes.
Our website allows clients to discover and purchase selected pieces online. Certain highly customized or exceptional pieces may require a consultation or may be listed as price upon request.
If you have questions before placing an order, we encourage you to contact us.
How do I determine my ring size?
For the most accurate result, we recommend having your finger professionally measured by a jeweller using a proper ring-sizing set.
For customers ordering remotely, our online ring-size guide can help estimate your size.
You may also purchase an inexpensive professional ring-sizing tool and measure your finger at home.
Because wider bands can fit differently from narrow rings, the width of the ring should also be considered when determining the appropriate size.
What if I order the wrong ring size?
Contact us as soon as possible.
Many rings can be resized, although the possibility and amount of resizing depend on the construction of the ring, stone setting, metal, and design.
Full-eternity bands and certain complex designs may have limited resizing possibilities, so we strongly recommend confirming your size before ordering.
How long does a custom order take?
Production time varies according to the complexity of the piece.
A simple design may be completed relatively quickly, while highly detailed custom jewellery requiring extensive modelling, casting, stone sourcing, hand finishing, or specialized setting will require additional time.
We will provide an estimated production timeline when your project is approved.
If your jewellery is required for a proposal, wedding, anniversary, birthday, or another important date, please tell us at the beginning of the process so we can take the deadline into consideration.
How quickly are online orders shipped?
For available merchandise, we generally aim to prepare and ship orders within approximately three business days.
If an item must be manufactured, customized, resized, engraved, or specially ordered, additional production time will apply.
You will be advised when an extended lead time is required.
Do you ship outside Montreal?
Yes.
We serve clients beyond Montreal and can arrange shipping throughout Canada and to many international destinations.
Shipping availability, insurance, duties, taxes, customs requirements, and delivery times vary by destination.
Is jewellery insured during shipping?
When insured shipping is provided, appropriate safeguards are used according to the value and destination of the order.
Specific shipping arrangements may vary for exceptionally valuable pieces. Contact us if you require details regarding a particular purchase.
Do you accept returns or exchanges?
Return and exchange eligibility depends on the type of purchase.
Stock merchandise may qualify under our applicable return or exchange policy. Custom-made, specially ordered, engraved, altered, resized, or personalized jewellery is generally treated differently because it has been produced specifically for the customer.
Please review our complete Returns & Exchanges Policy before purchasing for the conditions applicable to your order.
Are custom-made pieces refundable?
Because custom pieces are designed and manufactured specifically for an individual customer, custom orders and associated design or production work are generally final sale once approved and production has begun, subject to applicable consumer-protection laws.
This is why our design process includes renderings and client approval before manufacturing.
Do you offer jewellery repairs?
We can assess many types of jewellery repairs and restoration work, including setting inspection, polishing, refinishing, resizing, and other jewellery-related services.
The piece must normally be inspected before we can determine the appropriate repair method and provide an estimate.
Do you clean and polish jewellery?
Yes.
Professional cleaning and polishing can restore much of the original appearance of gold and platinum jewellery.
Diamond settings should also be periodically inspected, particularly on jewellery worn every day such as engagement rings.
How should I care for my diamond jewellery?
Even though diamonds are extremely durable, fine jewellery should still be treated carefully.
Avoid exposing jewellery unnecessarily to strong chemicals, heavy impacts, abrasive surfaces, or activities that could place pressure on the setting. We recommend removing valuable rings during strenuous physical activity, heavy household work, or situations where the jewellery may be struck.
Periodic professional inspection is one of the best ways to ensure that stones remain secure.
Can white gold change colour over time?
Yes.
White gold is normally alloyed with other metals and often finished with rhodium to achieve its bright white appearance. With normal wear, the rhodium finish can gradually diminish and the underlying warmer tone of the gold may become visible.
The ring can normally be professionally polished and re-rhodium-plated to restore its bright white finish.
Is platinum different from white gold?
Yes.
Platinum is naturally white, dense, and highly durable. White gold is a gold alloy that is generally rhodium finished to achieve its bright white appearance.
Both are excellent jewellery metals, but they behave differently over years of wear. We can help determine which is more appropriate based on the design, lifestyle, and personal preference of the wearer.
Can you create jewellery from a picture?
Yes.
A photograph can be used as inspiration to understand the proportions, style, or design elements you like.
Our goal with custom work is not simply to reproduce something mechanically, but to develop a piece that works properly from an engineering and jewellery-making perspective and is tailored to you.
Do you work with clients remotely?
Yes.
Many elements of the custom process can be handled remotely, including consultations, photographs, measurements, diamond selection, design discussions, renderings, revisions, and approvals.
This allows us to work with clients outside Montreal and internationally.
Do you work with professional athletes and public figures?
Yes. Angelica Jewellers has produced custom jewellery for a variety of clients, including professional athletes and other high-profile individuals.
The same attention to design, craftsmanship, discretion, and detail is applied to every customer, whether we are creating a classic engagement ring or a highly elaborate one-of-a-kind piece.
Do I need an appointment?
An appointment is highly recommended for engagement rings, diamond consultations, custom jewellery, redesign projects, and pieces requiring significant discussion.
An appointment allows us to dedicate the appropriate amount of time to your project.
How do I start a custom project?
Simply contact Angelica Jewellers with your idea.
You can send us photographs, sketches, inspiration, preferred dimensions, diamond or gemstone specifications, and your approximate budget if you have one.
From there, we can guide you through the possibilities and determine the best way to bring your idea to life.
Why choose Angelica Jewellers?
Jewellery should never feel like a commodity.
Our philosophy is built around craftsmanship, knowledge, value, transparency, and personalization. From selecting a single diamond to engineering a complex custom piece, we pay attention to the details that ultimately determine whether a piece simply looks good—or feels exceptional.
