Recrystallized Lab-Grown Emeralds – From Natural Colombian Rough
Our lab-grown emeralds are produced using an advanced recrystallization process developed in Japan. Unlike synthetic emeralds made entirely from chemical ingredients, these stones begin as natural emerald rough sourced from the famous Muzo mines in Colombia, known for their exceptional color quality.
The natural Muzo rough typically contains heavy inclusions that make it unsuitable for cutting as a gem. Through a careful process, these inclusions are removed, and the purified emerald material is melted and recrystallized under controlled laboratory conditions. This process allows the emerald to reform naturally into a new crystal structure while preserving the original natural color of the rough.
The resulting stones exhibit the appearance and optical properties of high-quality natural Colombian emeralds, including natural-type inclusions that give them authenticity and character. Importantly, no oil, glass, or artificial color is added at any stage. The color you see is 100% the natural hue of the original emerald material.
With a hardness of 8 to 8.5 on the Mohs scale, these recrystallized emeralds are durable enough for fine jewelry applications. They provide an affordable and ethical alternative to both high-priced natural emeralds and chemically synthesized emeralds.
